St Paul's Catholic Primary School

We are delighted to welcome you to St Paul's Reception class. If you are already at our lovely nursery or are joining us from an external setting, we cannot wait to welcome you. Our Reception offers a positive, safe and educational enviornment where children learn while having fun. Our Early Years environment is welcoming, stimulating and engaging. 

In Reception we have a mixture of teacher taught learning and child-initated learning. We value both. We see the importance of children being taught as a whole class and in small groups as well as the children learning through play. Play is an essential part of our Early Years. Through play children practice and develop skills. Adults support children during their play by engaging with them and moving their learning along. Reception have access to indoor and outdoor provision in all weathers. 

We believe in strong parent partnerships at St Paul's. This means our Reception children are getting the highest level of support from school and from home. In order to acheive this, I am available via email, via appointment and at the door after I have dismissed the class. We also use Tapestry which is an online learning platform where we upload current learning and observations, accompanied by a picture or two. In turn you are able to upload any home learning your child completes. 

In Reception, our aim is to foster a love of learning. If we can do this in the Early Years our children will take this with them through their schooling experience.
